We'd like to invite you to submit a proposal to present at the 8th annual iMATHination 2014 Conference - a retreat-style professional development conference for middle and high school educators including administrators, teachers, coaches and curriculum directors interested in math, science and technology. Each year our mission is to provide our participants with strategies and activities that promote a highly interactive, real-world applications approach to the teaching of problem-solving in mathematics.
Priority will be given to proposals for sessions that include the above; integrate a combination of math, science and technology; and address the conference theme focusing on the 6 pedagogical shifts necessary for successful implementation of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
The conference will take place on January 24-25, 2014, at the Q Center in St. Charles, IL. There will be two types of presentations - Friday evening "Math Bash" sessions and Saturday workshops. The Friday sessions will be 45 minutes in length and are meant to be fun, interactive activities. Saturday workshops will be 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. Both session types must be hands-on in nature. The Saturday session should leave time for participants to begin thinking about how they will utilize materials/ideas presented in their daily practice.
The proposal is to be completed on-line at the following link: Proposal Form
The topics that may be presented are:
Technology Integration (computer software, calculators, tablets, clickers, web tools and resources)
Assessment in Math/Science
Proposals are due by October 30, 2013. Presenters chosen for the conference will be notified by November 8, 2013.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the iMATHination Team.
